News » 17.09.2025 - Colombian flower sector highlights peacebuilding initiative
As part of Peace Week 2025 (September 8–14), Asocolflores highlighted the flower sector's ongoing commitment to peacebuilding through its Cultivemos la Paz en Familia (Let's Grow Peace in the Family) program. Launched in 1999, the initiative has benefited more than 60,000 people, including workers, families, and communities, by promoting conflict resolution and values such as respect, equity, and coexistence.
In 2025, the program was recognized during the 15th Global Compact Network Colombia Congress, Changing the Course: Alliances for the Future. There, it received an award in the Best Practices in Sustainable Development category for its contribution to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Through methodologies, training, and educational materials, developed with the support of facilitators and national and international partners—the program has helped transform violent behaviors into peaceful and creative alternatives.
With pedagogical actions, training-of-trainers processes, and awareness tools, the flower sector underlines that peace is cultivated daily in families, companies, and communities. Asocolflores is encouraging flower companies to continue strengthening this commitment to social well-being, corporate responsibility, and reconciliation.
A Formador de Facilitadores (Trainer of Facilitators) session for the program will be held in Cundinamarca on September 23.
