News » 30.06.2025 - Boosting the export potential of smaller growers in Ecuador
DHL Express has reaffirmed its commitment to Ecuador's floriculture sector through specialized solutions that support the export of flowers to international markets, particularly the United States and Canada.
With its door-to-door express service, DHL enables flower exports without a minimum weight requirement, offering greater accessibility to smaller-scale exporters. This model, combined with a robust air network featuring daily departures from both Quito and Guayaquil, ensures fast and secure deliveries that preserve the freshness of each bloom from origin to final destination.
"Flowers represent approximately 22% of the total export weight handled by DHL Express Ecuador, highlighting the strategic importance of this industry to our logistics operations in the country," said Edith Villavicencio, General Manager of DHL Express Ecuador. "In May alone, during the Mother's Day season, we exported over 18 metric tons of flowers, supporting hundreds of producers who rely on these peak periods to boost their sales."
A clear example of this impact is InBloom, an exporter of preserved flowers that works directly with Agrogana, a flower farm located in Pujilí, Cotopaxi.
Fully aware of the logistical challenge of maintaining product quality, InBloom shipped their flowers with DHL two weeks ahead of the seasonal peak, managing to export 3,360 kilograms of product in May.
In addition, the implementation of real-time monitoring and traceability technology has allowed InBloom to maintain the cold chain and protect the integrity of their flowers—from the farm to the final customer.
This comprehensive logistical support allows Ecuadorian producers to compete confidently in the global market while upholding high standards of quality and service.
