On the 15th, the Environmental Economy Committee of Goyang City Council held a meeting with the Goyang City Floriculture Association at the Korea Flower Farmers Cooperative Goyang Distribution Center to discuss the current status and future development strategies for the local floriculture industry.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Shin Inseon of the Environmental Economy Committee and its members, officials from the Goyang City Agricultural Technology Center, the head of the Goyang branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, regional heads of the Korea Flower Farmers Cooperative, and executives from the Goyang City Floriculture Association.

Participants reached a consensus that for the Goyang floriculture industry to advance to the next level, the existing production-centric structure must be transformed into one focused on distribution. They also proposed support measures such as the creation of a comprehensive floriculture theme park, establishing a foundation for nurturing young successor farmers, and setting up a mutual cooperation fund to stabilize farm management.

Concerns were also raised from the field about the difficulties in securing sales and distribution facilities due to development restriction zones and farmland regulations. Floriculture farmers requested the relaxation of these restrictions by utilizing district designations or forming special zones, and called for the creation of legal sales spaces and wholesale and retail hubs.
