News » 28.07.2026 - Yunnan flower exports maintain strong growth ahead of IFEX Kunming 2026
Yunnan, China's leading production region for fresh-cut flowers, continued its strong export momentum in 2025, with flower exports reaching RMB 1.22 billion (approximately USD 170 million), an increase of 60.5% compared to the previous year. The province has now ranked first nationwide for flower exports for seven consecutive years.
According to official figures, China's total flower exports reached USD 579 million in 2025, with fresh-cut flowers accounting for USD 228 million, representing year-on-year growth of 44.3%. Flowers produced in Yunnan are now exported to 64 countries and regions, including markets across Southeast Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe, such as Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The province's export performance is supported by both production scale and logistics infrastructure. Yunnan has around 130,000 hectares dedicated to flower cultivation and produces approximately seven out of every ten fresh-cut flowers sold in China. Dedicated green channels at Kunming Changshui International Airport, together with 24-hour customs clearance, allow freshly harvested flowers to move from production areas to outbound aircraft in less than 20 hours, remaining well within the industry's 36-hour freshness window for international transport.
Against this backdrop, international growers, breeders, suppliers and buyers will gather in Kunming for the IFEX Kunming International Flowers & Plants Expo 2026, scheduled for 18–20 September. Following the 2025 edition, the exhibition will cover 80,000 square metres and is expected to host more than 600 exhibitors and around 45,000 trade visitors.
The exhibition will feature four sectors—flowers, coffee, tropical plants and berries—and will include the Netherlands and Colombia as Official Countries of Honor. National pavilions from Thailand, Malaysia and other flower-producing countries are also expected to participate.
Among the international exhibitors are Legro, Van Egmond, Prime Flowers, Vince Mark, Schreurs, Deliflor, Pindstrup, Rijkland, De Ruiter, Van den Berg, Hasfarm, Florensis, Chrysal, BVB, Armada, Red Peony, Ridder, Van Iperen, NaanDanJain, Hortimed, Holex, Floricultura, Priva, Hoogendoorn, Anthura and Jiff.
To facilitate international trade, the event will include a Yunnan Flowers Export Zone, where overseas buyers can meet directly with local growers, as well as the Yunnan Flowers Going Global International Forum. The forum will focus on export policies, customs procedures, taxation, logistics and international market developments.
Organisers say the exhibition is designed to provide international buyers with direct access to China's leading flower producers, breeding companies and suppliers, while also creating opportunities to establish new sourcing partnerships across the floriculture sector.
IFEX Kunming 2026 will take place at Hall 4–10 of the Kunming Dianchi International Convention & Exhibition Center in Kunming, China, from 18–20 September 2026. Pre-registration is open for international buyers, media and trade professionals.
