At this year's Cultivate show in Ohio, Tyne Moulds introduced its new PHT-1 range and PHT-2 tying machine.

The PHT-1 combines features from earlier tying machines into a lighter-weight product. The scrap-free PHT-1 Plant Tying Machine secures plants to stakes and supports. The PHT-1 is intended to increase tying efficiency compared to hand-tying methods. It is intended for securing climbers, shrubs, trees, and other plants that require additional support during growth.

With a single squeeze of the handle, the machine wraps a plastic tape around the plant and stake, staples it, and cuts the tape to create a loop in one action. Tape and staples are supplied.

The scrap-free design eliminates loose tape offcuts, which is intended to keep growing areas clear of that waste.

The PHT-2 is a handheld horticultural tool designed for securing climbing plants, vines, young trees, and other stems to support stakes, trellises, or wires. It is used in vineyards, orchards, greenhouses, nurseries, and farming operations where plants require regular tying during the growing season.

The tool uses plastic tubing in combination with staples to create ties that support plant growth while aiming to limit damage to stems. Its handheld design is intended to reduce the time and physical effort required compared to tying plants manually with string or twist ties.

The tool is constructed from metal components intended for outdoor use in agricultural environments.
