News » 06.07.2026 - Evaluating spider lily for flower quality and yield
A total of 20 spider lily genotypes were evaluated for flower quality and yield, in randomized block design with three replications during 2017-18 to 2020-21.
Results revealed that genotype S11 recorded early sprouting (50.60 days) whereas, S19 recorded maximum sprouting (100%), bud diameter (7.50 mm) blooming period (192.24 days) and higher yield (17.53 buds/stalk and 92.07 buds/plant). Significantly, maximum number of sprouts (13.11), leaves (87.67) and bulbs per plant (19.93) and per plot (360.33) were recorded in S1. Significantly maximum stalk length (66.16 cm), flower bud length (19.12 cm) and shelf life (1.10 days) were recorded in genotype S14, which produced novel and unique green coloured [Green group (143): Strong yellow green C] flower buds which is on par with S19 for yield, while, S5 recorded maximum bulblets per plant (10.13) and per plot (164.33).
However, significantly maximum bulb diameter was recorded in genotype S10 (72.10 cm).
