News » 09.06.2026 - Over 9,000 flower pots at Macao Lotus Flower Festival

The Lotus Flower Festival is set to take place from 12th June to 17th July 2026 in Macao, as organized by the Macao Municipal Affairs Bureau IAM. The event is scheduled to turn Macao into an urban landscape with over 9,000 flower pots that are going to adorn various urban areas and venues. The festival will enable people to participate in activities, which would also include taking walks while enjoying the beautiful scenery in the city, thus increasing its summer tourist potential.

Under the theme Lotus Filling Macao with Joy, this year's festival highlights the Nelumbo nucifera'Xingfen' lotus, featuring peach-shaped pink buds that open into vivid hues edged with red. Alongside this signature variety, more than 20 other lotus species are displayed in different districts, creating immersive experiences for photography, relaxation, and cultural appreciation.

The main venue at Avenida da Praia, Taipa, features layered landscapes with bamboo-inspired structures and artificial stone sculptures, blending lotus culture with Macao's urban aesthetics. This setting enhances tourism experiences, fostering visitor engagement and repeat visitation, which support future tourism sector growth.

Beyond the main venue, IAM will install approximately 9,000 lotus pots along with over 11,000 seasonal flowers and shrubs across major streets, parks, and landmarks such as Senado Square, Dr Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, the Ruins of St Paul's, and Lou Lim Ioc Park.
