News » 25.05.2026 - Kyrgyzstan expands local rose production in Osh Region

A new greenhouse complex for rose production has been launched in the Osh Region of Kyrgyzstan with financing from the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. The 1-hectare facility uses hydroponic technology for rose cultivation. More than 60 million soms (€620,000) were invested in the project.

The investment follows a sharp increase in flower imports to Kyrgyzstan. Over the past year, imports rose from 34 million to 76 million stems. The main suppliers were Kenya, Ecuador and the Netherlands.

According to the fund, domestic greenhouse production is expected to reduce reliance on imported flowers and supply the local market with fresh-cut roses produced in the country. The project developers stated that modern hydroponic technologies can increase yields by 15% and shorten the growing cycle.
