A delegation of 36 Colombian growers of plants, foliage, and flowers took part in a technical and commercial visit to Holambra, Brazil, from September 5 to 17. The mission, organized by Grupo GEFFA and Colviveros with the support of Comfama, aimed to strengthen the capabilities of Colombia's ornamental sector by learning from one of the most advanced production and marketing hubs for ornamentals in Latin America.
Jairo Cadavid, president of Colviveros, emphasized that these missions are designed to identify emerging trends, foster strategic partnerships, explore new opportunities for innovation and growth, and promote experiential learning among Colombian nursery and flower growers. "These visits allow us to observe successful models of collaboration and commercialization firsthand, which can be adapted to the Colombian context," he explained.
During the visit, the group toured the Botanical Gardens of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, attended the ExpoFlora Show, and visited leading cooperatives such as Veiling Holambra (a flower auction model), Cooperflora, and Insumos Holambra. They also met with local growers specializing in hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, and roses, both as potted plants and cut flowers.
A highlight of the agenda was the visit to the Ceaflor Supply Center, a state-of-the-art facility located in Holambra, which has become the largest marketplace for plants, flowers, foliage, and inputs in Latin America. According to Colombian consultant Mauricio Torres, who coordinated the visits, Ceaflor spans 6 hectares, with 946 commercial units, 670 truck bays, and over 2,000 parking spaces, making it a key logistical and commercial hub for the entire region.
